How we handle your data

Trust starts with clarity. This page explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how it is shared, and the controls you have across Boston Marathon Qualifying Races (BQ Finder).

What data we collect

We track page views, on-site clicks, device type, approximate location, and referral URLs through Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and privacy-friendly server logs. This data is aggregated so we can understand which race guides and tools resonate. We only collect personally identifiable information when you voluntarily submit it through a form (feedback, race director inquiries, advertising requests, or email signups), and we store exactly what you provide: name, email, race details, and message content.

Cookies and third-party advertising

We use both first-party cookies (set by BQ Finder) and third-party cookies (set by partners) to operate the site. GA4 places first-party cookies for analytics. Google AdSense uses third-party cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, limit frequency, and measure campaign performance. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Opting out of personalized ads

You can opt out of personalized Google ads by visiting google.com/settings/ads and adjusting your preferences. Many browsers also support third-party cookie controls or plug-ins such as the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Clearing cookies on your device removes our first-party cookies, but you may still continue to see contextual ads.

Email signups & forms

When you subscribe to race updates or submit a form, we use that information solely to respond or send the content you requested. Email addresses live in our ESP (Resend) and are never rented or sold. Race director form submissions flow into our internal CRM so we can action requested updates or advertising inquiries. You may request deletion of any submission by emailing us.

Data sharing & retention

We do not sell personal data. Limited information is shared with trusted service providers (analytics, email delivery, hosting, payment processors) under agreements that restrict how they can use the data. Analytics logs are retained for up to 26 months. Form submissions remain on file so we can track race updates and compliance history but can be deleted upon request.

Your controls

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, opt out of personalized ads via Google Ad Settings, and unsubscribe from any email we send. If you submitted personal information through a form and would like it removed, email us and we will confirm deletion within two business days.
